Schön! Magazine is bringing the sex back to the sinister for Issue thirteen, as we introduce our new duo cover - a tribute to the force of the feminine and the masculine. Legendary lensman Tiziano Magni takes command of our first cover option, with the electric editorial “Flesh, Flags and Fatigues”. Our second cover stars Garrett Neff, who features solo in Jean Paul Gaultier for our dramatic monochrome editorial, shot by Phillip Mueller and directed by Laurent Dombrowicz.

We welcome the diverse talent of artists Drew Struzan and Christopher Moeller; and from an entirely new angle, we gain an insight into their long and illustrious careers. Investigating fashion heroes past and present, we reminisce about the life of the late and great Edith Head, and share a word with of-the-moment ‘Superblogger’ BryanBoy.

Photography and illustration collide in “Skin Ink”, as Diego Indraccolo and Pok U Chan join forces in an editorial that adds a rich new dimension to the classic nude shoot. What’s more, prepare to toughen up for the ferocious Rob Evans, new face of Givenchy, as he returns with a storm to our pages, unveiling the new collection from UNCONDITIONAL. Issue thirteen is also proud to feature the fabulous Kathy Griffin as she talks to Schön! about her personal journey, her lust for life and the importance of a good laugh.

It is a shared state-of-mind between artists, designers, editors and other creators who bring all of these ideas to life as a collective. Issue thirteen is proof of how we work: the force and the passion behind those with whom we share this vision.

Welcome to the dark side.

Unlucky thirteen? We think not!

Schön! in Print Schön! as eBook Schön! online Schön! on the iPhone Schön! on the iPad

Sunbeams of talent radiate from the pages of Issue 12 of Schön! Magazine, warming our faces with the glow of never-ending discoveries of creative genius. Model Sebastian Sauve once again graces our pages, this time alongside Leebo Freeman in the provocative cover story “Miami Bitch,” shot by Dimitris Theocharis. And the vibrancy of summer, both sun and shade, is captured in the editorial “Haughty Shades,” shot by Thanassis Krikis and edited by Nicholas Georgiou.

Walk with us down the garden path of design as we share enthralling conversations with Kim Jones, a master of menswear and one of fashion’s most influential people, interviewed by Andre Da Silva, and Dan and Dean Caten, the daring men behind the irresistibly sexy and glamorous brand DSquared2, interviewed by our very own João Paulo Nunes. We are also proud to introduce model Rob Evans, featured in Omar Macchiavelli’s “Flow,” and Laurent Dombrowicz, a visionary fashion editor who worked on our editorial “Amsterdam, Pennsylvania,” photographed by Anne Combaz.

Spanish actress Rossy de Palma’s vivacious personality shines impossibly bright in her interview and accompanying editorial shot by Álvaro Villarrubia, while fellow Spanish rose, artist Lita Cabellut, reminds us that perseverance can overcome pain to create beauty. Tim Flach captures the magic of childhood summers spent at the zoo in “Mammals,” enchanting us all in his interview with Hannah Newman. And the story of Elina Garanca, a woman who is enrapturing the world as one of opera’s brightest stars, and was exclusively interviewed for Schön! by Grace Urban, inspires us.

And so we invite you to dig deep into your heart, to find the greatest treasures of life, and rejoice in the beauty of summer! It is our true joy to capture it for you within our pages.

THE FIRESTARTER
Story: Rocio Frausto

The year is 1930. “Nucky” Thompson, mobsters and politicians define the prevailing trends during the Prohibition era in Atlantic City. Martin Scorsese directed the first episode of HBO’s epic new series, Boardwalk Empire. Critical acclaim and high ratings have garnered the show with two Golden Globe awards for, Best Dramatic Series and Best Actor in a Dramatic Series. The main title sequence was designed and produced by Imaginary Forces and the team of HBO.

Imaginary Forces has been developing content for commercial advertising, feature films, television and digital platforms since 1996. Visual Effects Supervisor and former Managing Director of Method Studios, Alex Frisch was appointed as a Creative Director for Imaginary Forces. “For IF and Alex, the union means that they will broaden their ability to tell stories, which has always been the main creative force for both of them. “IF has seen an explosion of VFX in our projects and its importance in our storytelling. We are re-thinking the way to use VFX, and having Alex here gives us an opportunity to increase our capability for doing that,” says Peter Frankfurt (IF Managing Director).”

Among those projects between Mr. Frisch and IF is the cultivation of COPA. A cooperative platform that conjoins Visual Effects artists from the globe. With a benchmark for excellence and groundbreaking technologies.

Mad Men, Transformers and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse are among the other shows/films that Imaginary Forces has triumphantly collaborated upon.
